When the time comes to forage for food and chase cats there’s a playfulness to Notting Hill's pastel-painted streets. You won’t be able to help but have a good time in its busy bars and restaurants. Spend a morning at Portobello Road market or cut cunningly across the grass for the museums and Knightsbridge.

Urban explorers

Like their favorite animals, your hosts range far and wide. They’re from Belgium, and came to London to work. Their surname translates into the word ‘fox’ and now they collect their furry friends whenever they can – look out for the mugs, cushions, and even their choice of books.

Seeing red

The crowning glory of this home is undoubtedly the brand new kitchen, with its glossy white units, and four Eames chairs standing upon a pristine slate floor. Open the doors out into the neat garden, or take your drink through to the jazzy sitting room, with its cherry red chairs, low slung sofa and zig zag rug. The walls are hung with vintage travel posters, and the vibe is modern retro – giving this home an atmosphere that’s cosy and welcoming, while keeping bang on trend. The two bedrooms are a calming white, one’s a twin and one’s a double with walk-in wardobe, and each has its own luxurious bathroom.

Home territory

Kensington Gardens is almost at the end of the road, and you’re only a speedy slink from the shops, cafes and restaurants of Notting Hill. Visit Portobello Road Market for antiques, jewels and vintage fashion, or cross the park for Kensington, Knightsbridge and the museums. If you want to make use of your fantastic kitchen, nearby Holland Park has some of the capital’s best grocers, or, if you’re heading into town, the tube from Notting Hill to Oxford Circus takes only 8 minutes.
