Part of the trendy hotel chain known for its hipster outlook and often hipster locations, the Ace Hotel NY can be credited for really putting NYC's NoMad neighborhood on the map back when it opened in 2009. Of course, NoMad -- short for "North of Madison Square Park" -- was always there, but it was known as a gritty area filled with cheap jewelry outlets and pawn shops. Some of these storefronts remain, but the neighborhood has become increasingly synonymous with luxe hotels and fine-dining establishments (most sharing the same address).

The Breslin, April Bloomfield's Michelin-starred gastropub, can be found at the Ace, and the chic NoMad Hotel, which opened in 2012, is home to a same-named restaurant, also graced with a star.

And the trend continues, as two new boutique hotels have made their way to the neighborhood...

The Paul at 32 West 29th Street

A newcomer that really reminds us of The Ace (particularly when considering its bunk bed rooms), The Paul opened this month as a hip, affordable (by New York standards) option. With 117 rooms, the boutique hotel includes quirky amenities like bedside dictionaries and welcome cupcakes. For now, only breakfast is being served -- but a bar with craft cocktails is in the works.

SLS Hotel New York at 444 Park Avenue South
Another gem from developer Sam Nazarian, the SLS Hotel New York will feature decor by Philippe Starck, so you know it'll be just as sleek as Starck-designed sister properties like SLS Las Vegas and SLS at Beverly Hills. The luxe property will feature 190 rooms, as well as a fine-dining restaurant and a rooftop.
