My clients just returned from Jay Peak ski resort and sent this review to me.
Alex, we just got back. It was freezing cold (haven't felt cold temps like that since the "old country"), but we still had a great time.
Ski school there is great. Our son got pretty comfortable on skis; he can't wait to go skiing again. Daughter not as much. Because of the cold they kept the smaller kids inside more than outside, but she learned to skate instead. The skate rink there is very nice. Not a lot of "public" hours, but enough for us.
The water park is also great. We spent quiet a few hours there.
Couple of things you might want to file away: Tram House Lodge where we stayed is great; rooms are nice and clean, very spacious; very nice kitchen, which came in very handy. BUT, even though it's connected to the Jay Hotel via a tunnel there's no way you can walk from here to there in a swim suit. It's much too far and much too cold. Not realistic. We had to get lockers in the water park to change. Not a huge expense, but something to keep in mind.
Also, the ski school is now not at the Tram House Lodge but in another building across the property that you need to take a shuttle to. Again, not a big deal, but it can be confusing for someone who reads the website. It's a new development. They just recently opened "Adventureland" ski park for kids and moved their ski school there.
We ate inside the hotel. Btw, we tried both of the nice restaurants Alice's Table and the Foundry. Alice's Table was underwhelming. Foundry was very nice. We ate breakfast and lunch in our room.
Again, thanks for recommending this place. It was something different and it worked.
