My family and I took a tour of the Tower of London on the second day of our London adventure. The tour was amazing with Tony Anderson as our tour guide from Context Travel; he was very interesting and very flexible.  You could ask him any and as many questions as you want. Tony showed us lots of things and explained each one in an interesting and detailed way. For example, it was very interesting how he explained Henry the Eighth's struggle to find a wife to birth his son.

I wouldn't suggest a group tour, because there are a lot of people in one tour group and you just can't get as much out of it. For example, with a group tour run by Beefeaters, the friendly workers running the tourism at the Tower, the guide only stops for and explains about the specific items on the itinerary, so no real room for questions and side-stories. There are almost 100 people in the group, another obstacle for asking questions. This way, through the group tour, you literally get only what you’ve paid for. Personally, I think to get the best experience out of your tour you need to be able to have all your questions answered. You come on a tour to get an explanation of interesting things and if those explanations are boring and confusing, then what's the point of paying for a tour?

My family and I were very much satisfied with the explanations and the tour as a whole. Repeating, Tony Anderson, from Context Travel, was amazing! I would highly recommend him to families with children that aren't just satisfied with a normal tour and need an engaging one instead. With Tony, everyone gets a chance to have their own questions answered and if appropriate they will be answered in front of the whole group. And on top of extra questions, as a private tour guide, Tony added on some of his own interesting extra stories about the Tower and on other topics. The Tower of London is a very fun place to visit and has lots of interesting stories and legends. You probably won't know about them before you go to the Tower and won't learn them without an adequate tour guide.

Tony kept you entertained and listening, even when we were waiting in line to see the crown jewels, the 30 minute line felt like 5 minutes. A good private tour guide can make long lines, no matter the attraction, an enjoyable experience.

Last but not least, after finishing the tour, my dad asked Tony to recommend a place nearby to eat. He pointed us towards the Kitchen, where he said he usually eats in between tours. On top of what he said being true (half of the tables being occupied by tour guides from different agencies), the place offered us some pretty good food. A key item, however, was Creamy Tea with scones, an English classic. The Kitchen has many great Breakfast/Lunch options appropriate for the whole family.

Overall, it was a great tour-; from the whole family, thank you for the suggestion, Family Travel Concierge!!!
