Have you ever been looking to take an adventurous vacation with the family? Well here's the answer! Acadia National Park in Maine is the place! This National Park is on an island right off the coast of the state of Maine, and it has everything your family was hoping for. From water parks for the little ones in the town next door, to wild animals roaming through the park itself, this place has the taste of all!
While staying in the park, make sure your family takes a horse-drawn carriage ride. These rides are driven by 2 beautiful horses in an old fashioned carriage. Your driver is very friendly and keeps you occupied by talking about the history of Maine, the park, and sometimes even them themselves! They will take you on an one or two hour ( your preference) ride through the hills and old roads of the park. Surrounding you is the sound of chirping birds, the smell of fresh grass, and sometime you may even encounter rabbits or deer! This activity is very relaxing and interesting, it's something the whole family will love!
Another great attraction are the beaches and lakes. These bodies of water are absolutely incredible! Surrounded by lush forests, the water practically twinkles! Since its a national park, they are very clean and well taken care of. Beautiful pictures are always a yes in these areas, and it's a great idea to swim, but the water can be very cold! The average temperature in that part of Maine in the summer is generally 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit, but the water itselfs usually ranges about 50 degrees Fahrenheit! Brr! If you're brave, risk it and jump in! Once you get in, you won't want to ever leave this breath-taking area!
For the last day of your trip, visit Cadillac mountain! This mountaintop is the highest peak in all of Maine, and a definite place to visit! You can either hike up the mountain, or drive up it. This is a great way to spend the last day in the wilderness. Although the hike up may be challenging, the end result is worth it. The view is absolutely amazing. You can see miles out into every direction! If you want to see an even better view from this mountain, wake up early in the morning( around 5 am) to see the sunrise! Cadillac mountaintop is one of the highest peaks in all Maine, therefore, you can be one of the first in the state to see the gorgeous sunrise! With the sun just awakening, this is a beautiful and colorful light spectacle!
Oh, so much to do and see in this great national park, but so little time! Be sure to include this as a vacation spot, for you will never forget this treasure!
