Acadia National Park!
Another one of the main attractions in this national park is the town of Bar Harbor, located on the tip of the island. This cozy little town is a must-see! This is a great place to spend the day! Be sure to stop at one of the family-run ice cream shops to get a cone of delicious, home-made ice cream. With your frozen treat in hand, roam around the town stopping to window shop. Bar Harbor is famous for tourists, so the doors of all shops are always open and welcoming for all, even canines! The shopkeepers are very friendly and are eager to help and get to know you. Why not make a friend while you're at it! Don't forget to stop at the pizza shop for lunch! With the aroma of fresh baked dough wafting in the air, you'll be glad you stopped at this delicious restaurant! You can also just roam and rest for a while in the park in the middle of the town. This small park includes a fountain, wide-spread grass, and benches to relax on. Many people bring pets and instruments here, so this is a great place to let kids run around and listen to some great music.
Also, be sure to include taking a walk to Bar Island. Bar Island is an island about 1 mile off of the coast of Bar Harbor. Two times a day when the tide is low, a 1 mile sandy path is carved out for visitors to walk on to reach the island. It's a great idea to take a short walk to spend some time on the small island with family. Although it only takes about 20 minutes walk to the island itself, the tide will reach high tide again in a few hours. If you do decide to fit this into your schedule, be sure to ask around what time the tides are high/low so that you plan accordingly. If you miscalculate the tides, you are stuck on the island until the next low tide...
